Meditation

I've spent the entire day just exhausted and rather blah. Really took it easy today, though and tried to find comfort in all of my friends' words of wisdom and inspiration and most importantly, support. I'll be sharing a lot of those comments later because they really do put things in perspective.

Several months ago, I went to a bookstore with my daughter and her boyfriend. I just can NOT go into a bookstore without buying something. After about an hour and a half of picking up books and putting them back (on such a wide range of subjects) I came across Meditation A Beginner's Guide by Charlotte Parnell. For some reason, I decided that was the one for me. I carried it around in my backpack for about 5 months before realizing, I am never going to read it, so I put it on our bookshelf.

Over the past couple of weeks, with all my thinking, reflecting, trying to get a grasp on 'the big picture' that we call life, I decided to return the book to my backpack. Last week, while visiting with my husband in the hospital, I pulled it out and started reading. This woman understood me! She even starts out talking about 'the big picture'. So, I've been reading it as time has allowed over the past couple of days and finally made it to the first meditation exercise. It was amazing!!!

I feel calmer and less depressed. Definitely a step in the right direction :)

In the name of Jesus Christ, I bring Ken before you right now. We know that you are aware of everthing that is happening at this moment. The disappointment, the anxiety, the sadness of things taking place. But God, we know, that 'Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world.' You desire us to come before You and to ask what we have need of.

So, I bring Ken before you right now and trust You to give him the strength he needs to have his legs work again. We pray that even if he cannot pray right now and even if Shari is too distraught to pray.....we, as a group of believers in Christ, lift Ken up and ask that You would 'show your power'. We trust You and believe in You, Oh Lord.

Thank you for what You are going to do for Ken and his family. We know that You know best...whatever it is that you have planned....we thank you for that, in the precious name of Jesus, we prayer. And we will give You all the Glory and the Praise and Thanks.

Shari also needs to find a caregiver that will be suitable and available to help out in this need. We give that request to You as well.

We would also like to ask that Ken and Shari will experience the peace of God that passeth all human understanding. We don't get all this, Lord but You do. Please quiet their spirits and give them a good rest.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour, we pray all these things, believing that You have heard and will answer us.

    Amen and Amen

hugs to you both Shari and Ken,
    love, Pauline

  2. Shari~ I just prayed the prayer above from Pauline for you and Ken. It is a perfect prayer and I need add nothing to it but my request, in Jesus' name, that God grant the things that we are holding both you and Ken up for...He is our Savior!

I am so glad you've found something to offer you some peace and wellness for your heart and mind (I don't doubt for one minute, that book was chosen for you for just this time!) Meditating, praying, spending time with God are all ways to stay healthy at any time, but especially now. I imagine you are physically out of sorts also, but I find simple yoga stretches to be extremely empowering. You can usually find very short (10 minute) simple stretch routines on Comcast or Verizon's On Demand under exercise and I encourage you to take a look. You don't even have to do the whole thing but you may find a couple stretches that really make you feel well and can do them whenever you just want a release.

I am so glad you are able to share here, too! There are so many praying for you and Ken but there is only so much we can help you with...I just am glad that this blog allows you an outlet with no restrictions on what you want to say, share, or discuss.

    Love always~
    Kelly
