I apologize to those of you who are following this weekly post; I didn't get last Sunday's list of daily Bible readings posted (as you probably noticed). So, I used it as a week to try to catch up with my personal Bible reading, although I'm still a little behind. I guess this means we're going to "Read the Bible in a Year and One Week" :)
This is another exciting week because we're reading through six different Chapters of the New Testament!
Sunday, March 26 2 Thessalonians 3:1 - 1 Timothy 5:2
Monday, March 27 1 Timothy 5:3 - 2 Timothy 2:26
Tuesday, March 28 2 Timothy 3:1 - Philemon 3
Wednesday, March 29 Philemon 4 - Hebrews 4:16
Thursday, March 30 Hebrews 5:1 - 9:15
Friday, March 31 Hebrews 9:16 - 11:40
Saturday, April 1 Hebrews 12:1 - James 2:13
Last night we went to the Nutter Center at Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio to see the Cirque Du Soleil presentation of "Toruk - The First Flight," based on James Cameron's "Avatar". This is the prequel to the movie, but is just as spectacular and meaningful whether you've seen the movie or not.
The costumes and set designs were absolutely amazing, and flawlessly pulled us into the world of Pandora. Plants, props, lights, even performers oftentimes seemed to appear out of nowhere. We were transported to the five different tribes living on Pandora, and saw the people, animals, landscape, and rituals of each region. The performers and puppeteers did an outstanding job of acrobatics and showmanship; so much talent on one stage.
My favorite part of the show was the exciting and breathtaking conclusion when everyone and every part of Pandora came together. It's just something that is difficult to describe; you have to experience it.
If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to attend one of the six remaining performances:
Mar 23, 2017 (Thu) 7:30 PM
Mar 24, 2017 (Fri) 7:30 PM
Mar 25, 2017 (Sat) 4:00 PM
Mar 25, 2017 (Sat) 8:00 PM
Mar 26, 2017 (Sun) 1:00 PM
Mar 26, 2017 (Sun) 5:00 PM
I believe tickets range in price between $38 to $108 with discounts available for young children, people over $65, students and military. Check their website.
You can download their app (preferably before you go, as it was difficult to do at the event) to interact with the show on a whole other level.
Note about accessibility at the Nutter Center: Keep in mind, there are approximately 21 rows of seats in each section with row 1 being closest to the stage. Each row is the equivalent of two steps (or maybe it's 3), so, if you're in row 1, you have approximately 42 steps to climb in order to go to the restrooms, buy a snack or swag, and to leave. There aren't intermediary levels to enter the arena.
It doesn't take much to make me happy, this week's reading list is one of them. In this one week, we'll be reading from SIX different books of the New Testament: Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, and 2 Thessalonians! How cool is that?
(Personally, I'm still about two full weeks behind on reading, but when I get to this week, I'll be excited about it!)
Sunday, March 12 Galatians 1:11 - 4:20
Monday, March 13 Galatians 4:21 - Ephesians 2:10
Tuesday, March 14 Ephesians 2:11 - 5:21
Wednesday, March 15 Ephesians 5:22 - Philippians 2:24
Thursday, March 16 Philippians 2:25 - Colossians 2:10
Friday, March 17 Colossians 2:11 - 1 Thessalonians 2:20
Saturday, March 18 1 Thessalonians 3:1 - 2 Thessalonians 2:17
