God comforts through His word

God comforts through His word:
Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
2 Corinthians 1:3

Coincidentally, @davidjeremiah tweeted earlier this week:
Today, be emptied of self and filled with Scripture—then take one step at a time as you go through your day.

Brookville tornado stories

The Ridge Church Brookville, OH
This is last week's church service recording where the Pastor shares what all transpired during and immediately after a tornado struck Brookville, OH on Memorial Day. It's about half an hour and is then followed by a half hour sermon given by our new Assistant Pastor. I hope you enjoy. I'm so proud of my church and am just heartbroken that I wasn't able to be there with them.

The disciples, as each one was able,
decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters
living in Judea. This they did, sending their gift
to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.
Acts 11:29-30

Churches provided safe havens

The Ridge Church - Brookville, OH
Churches all over the region opened their doors to the community. They provided food, shelter, and showers, but they also provided comfort, security, and even hope for those who were without. We are all made in God's image, and it glorifies Him whenever we put our own needs aside to serve others. It's an opportunity to share His word and to let others see Him through us.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
Galatians 6:10a

Cleaning up the rubble

The stories of people giving freely of their time and resources to help the victims of the tornadoes are truly inspirational. There were children who helped their parents take food to the victims, an entire football team who helped removed trees and rubble, adults of all ages, and retirees. Areas that I have to drive through to go to and from work have set up tents and hand out bottles of water, pizzas, and bbq a dinner each evening. The donations have been so plentiful that some distribution centers are having to turn away goods. (So maybe check out where you plan to drop off before buying anything else to donate). If you still want to help financially, you can donate to the Red Cross* https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/
I'm so proud to live in a community and county full of so many giving people. God uses His followers as image-bearers to the world, showing His love, mercy, and grace through us.

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
John 13:15 (NIV)
