When you've had a bad day

There are times when we don't feel thankful, when we bemoan our lot in life or feel defeated after a bad day. It's easy during those times to pray only for our own needs and not give thanks, not praise Him, and not think of others' needs. During those difficult times, we maybe pray very little, put off reading His Word, maybe even pull away from our church family. It seems to snowball very quickly which makes the initial reason we turned away even more difficult to handle.
That's what happened to me in the early 1980's. The snowball effect was so great that I forgot about Jesus all together and tried to go it alone. For nearly 30 years I tried to handle everything by myself and those 30 years were the worst of my life.
I can tell you from experience that no matter how bad things get, without Jesus the burden is unbearable, but WITH Jesus, all things are possible and He will never give you more than you can bear. He is there for you to give Him all of your problems, worries, struggles. If you pray, He will listen and He will answer. When things are at their worst, it just means you need to be even more fervent in your prayer life, giving thanks for what is good in your life, counting your blessings, praising Him. Be in the Word, be in fellowship with other Christians.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
