We make mistakes. Then, hopefully, eventually, we repent (otherwise, we must not consider them mistakes). We expect others to forgive us; we know God will forgive us, but how easily do we forgive others? I know some non-Christians who are so judgmental they seem unable to forgive. Once someone crosses them, that's it. There is no conversation and if there were, it would be completely one-sided because they can't or won't hear out the other person. I'm praying for them this week; praying that they learn to forgive and to become open-minded, empathetic individuals. Maybe you have someone similar in your life whose inability to forgive others is causing strife and pain. Or maybe you're having a difficult time forgiving someone who's hurt you. Or maybe there's someone in your life who won't forgive you. Whatever the circumstances, let's pray that we learn to forgive one another just as Christ forgives each of us every hour of every day.
In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:9-15 NKJV (Emphasis mine)
