While they are directed at believers instead of the unbelievers we are praying for this week, we need to be continually growing in our spiritual lives, in our knowledge, striving to become more Christlike in order to be able to effectively share with unbelievers.
I read prayer requests from the mission field each day, and the main requests are for God to work in the hearts of those being ministered to and for Him to present opportunities to share the gospel. Often the missionaries share their successes and the reason they're able to be so effective is that the people see Christ in them. The more spiritually alive we are, the more influence we'll have on the spiritually dead. They can see the characteristics of Christ through us and know that we speak the truth concerning Him.
And this is my prayer:
that your love may abound more and more in knowledge
and depth of insight,
so that you may be able to discern
what is best and may be pure and blameless
for the day of Christ,
Philippians 1:9-10 NIV
