Pandemic and children

While adults everywhere are complaining and bemoaning having to wear masks, and that their freedoms are being restricted, we should stop and consider how this pandemic is affecting our children and the children around the world who don't have it so easy to begin with.

Consider this data:
- This is a universal crisis and, for some children, the impact will be lifelong.

-It is pushing more households into multidimensional poverty

-Approximately 150 million additional children are living in multidimensional poverty – without access to essential services

-Up to 1.6 billion children and young people have been affected by school closures – many do not have Internet access at home

-An additional 1.2 million children and 56,700 mothers could die in 6 months due to disruption in basic interventions, based on the worst-case scenario

-As many as 132 million people may go hungry in 2020, of that 36 million children And ...

370 million children may miss out on nutritious school meals

-Due to COVID-19 measures, approximately 80 million children under the age of 1 in at least 68 countries may miss out on receiving life-saving vaccines

-An additional 124,000 children could be infected with HIV if prevention services are disrupted for 6 months

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Please join me this week in praying for the children of the world. Let's pray that they are spared from the coronavirus and that their physical and spiritual needs are met. Let's also pray for their mental and emotional health because we can't be sure how this situation is affecting them, and the long-term effects it may have. The isolation, seeing everyone wearing masks, being separated from people outside of the immediate family, etc. could surface later in life in their abilities to have relationships and to cope in certain situations. We just don't know. Pray for them in all of these areas. Pray for their salvation, especially the older children.

I'll post daily reminders on:
