Our household

Today's verses, if taken out of context might give us the false hope that if one of us believes and is saved, then our entire household is also saved. But, we can't look at scripture as isolated verses (even though, argumentably, that's what I'm doing here. Rest assured, I check out the context before posting (most of the time.)). I do feel like this can give us hope, though. Peter went into a Roman's home, which just wasn't done back then, because he was called to share the gospel with Cornelius, the centurion, and his entire household.
he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’
Acts 11:14 ESV

All who were in Cornelius' household, wife, children, servants, guests, etc. heard the gospel and were saved. Likewise, we can hope that all of those in our household have heard the gospel and will, at some point, believe. If we've been bold in our task of sharing the gospel, we know they've heard it. If we haven't been, let's pray for the opportunity and encouragement to do so.
Later, Paul and Silas were in prison and one night they were singing hymns and praying. There was an earthquake and all of the cell doors were opened, and the prisoners' chains were loosed. When the guard awoke and saw this, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, because a guard who allowed his prisoners to escape would have been humiliated and then killed. Paul cried out to him to stop. They hadn't escaped; they were all still there. The guard fell to his knees before Paul and Silas and then brought them out.
Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Acts 16:30-31 ESV

Roman guards and their families were saved. Paul, of all people, was saved. Never give up praying that our children will someday also be saved. God is good.

Please pray for the salvation of these adult children:

*********
Please join me in praying for the salvation of our children. Whether you're a mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparent, neighbor, friend, chances are you know of a child (including/especially an adult child) who is lost. Let's pray fervently for them! Ask God to soften their hearts to the hearing of the Good News. Pray that He calls them to follow Him. Pray that He sends people to them that they will listen to and that they will desire to seek Him.

I'll post daily reminders on:
