For a long time, I didn't know why people said, "In Jesus' name I pray." I wondered should I be praying to Jesus or to God or to the Holy Spirit? Then, I began my journey through the entire bible and when I got the book of John, I finally understood. John quotes Jesus telling us to pray in His name three different times and, John is sharing this with us in three consecutive chapters (not that they had chapters and verses back then). You could've knocked me over with a feather when I realized what Jesus was saying. Basically, in all three locations, He's saying 'pray like this and the Father will answer your prayer.'
As for "amen", we say it at the end of a prayer to mean "so be it."
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:13 NIV
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
John 15:16 NIV
In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
John 16:23 NIV

Please join me this week in praying for a life of prayer. God wants His children to come to Him with our needs, with praise, with thanksgiving. He wants us to be unceasing in our prayers. Talk to Him. He's always there for us.
I'll post daily reminders on:
